The Samoosa business was founded by Razia’s, Aunt Zubeda and her Mum Mrs. Ayesha Russool. They started the small business at home in Chatsworth in 1985 making and selling Fried and Unfried Samoosa from their garage to neighbours and tuck shops in and around the Chatsworth Area. Aunty Zubeda and Razia’s Mum operated the business for 20 years.

In 2005 Aunty Zubeda offered the business to Razia as the family could not cope with the growing demand for their delicious Samoosas. Razia took over the Business and ran it from the same premises until 2007.

In 2007, Razia met her Husband Abdool Khan, better known as Bhai Gora. In 2008 they decided to open a small Take-Away in central Durban called R&B Homemade delights trading as

THE SAMOOSA DEN.

With only Razia and 2 staff they produced 500 Samoosas a day working long hours, whilst Bhai Gora did all the marketing.

At the Takeaway, they continued to produce and sell Fried and Unfried Samoosas. The demand was growing very rapidly and their customers were very satisfied with their products and Quality. Orders for Unfried Samoosa and Spring Rolls was in big demand.

Bhai Gora and Razia had a vision of opening a Samoosa Factory to supply the greater Durban areas. In 2009, Bhai Gora opened a Factory in Lorne Street Durban which was about 40 Sq. with 6 Staff members. In the same year, they were blessed with their first child. The business was officially registered as AL MASEEHA FOODS cc. t/a THE SAMOOSA DEN.

The name was derived from their wonderful daughter named ‘Maseeha.

In 2013 due to the huge demand AL MASEEHA FOODS cc. was registered as a Close Corporation. The Company started Manufacturing and supplying local Takeaways, Restaurants, Hotels, Supermarkets and Butcheries in the Durban and surrounding areas. Due to the huge demand thefactory was forced to extend its premises to what it is today.

Through the help and Guidance of the Almighty and the hard work and sleepless nights, the factory now produces over 10.000 Samoosas a day with 24 staff members. All our samoosa are handmade.
